The Department of French and Francophone Studies congratulates Kaitlyn Quaranta, who successfully defended her dissertation, "System and Knowledge in the Encyclopédie." 
David Wills’s book Prosthesis, originally published in 1995, was republished by the University of Minnesota Press in a 25th anniversary edition with a preface by Jacques Derrida.

French Studies Ph.D. Student Receives 2018 Archambault Teaching Award

The Department of French Studies is proud to announce that one of our graduate students, Brigitte Stepanov is the recipient of a 2018 Archambault Teaching Award. We wish Brigitte continued success during her remaining time at Brown and beyond.
Professor Ourida Mostefai, Professor of French Studies and Comparative Literature at Brown, has been honored by the French Society, L’Ordre des Palmes Académiques with a promotion to the rank of Officer. The awarding of the promotion and associated decoration will take place in a ceremony on September 6, 2017, at the French Consul’s residence, in Cambridge, Mass.
"Whenever I tell people outside of Brown that I'm concentrating in public policy and French Studies, they typically struggle to find a connection, but Brown understands that I can study history, policies, and populations across majors, languages, and countries!"
